2004 Poetry Out Loud Results

The 8th Annual Poetry Out Loud High School Poetry Competition on April 24, 2004, brought out high school poets from Steller, Grace Christian School, Bartlett, and even Palmer.

Individual Winners

    Jessie Withrow Memorial Award (Given annually to the best individual poet of the evening. Poets who receive this award have their poems published in the next year's issue of Understory.) Destiny Brown.
  • 2nd Place Ernie Piper and Shawn Jefts of Steller (with Shawn on percussion).

Rational Expressions

Team Winners

  • 1st place "Rational Expressions," Rebecca Barker, Ellen Smiley, and Rebecca Grabman, from Steller
  • 2nd place "Danny and the Jets," Daniel Becker, Brian Kubitskey, and Josh Lee, Steller
  • 3rd place Grace Christian School's team with Mike Smit, Caitlin Burr, and John Martinez
