Off all the objects I could choose from, my most treasured items are my soccer shin guards. My mom gave them to me three years ago; my first pair had bitten the dust. Although I was really disappointed that my old ones were torn and tattered, I thought that maybe there was a slight possibility that these would work just as well. That is just what they did, only better.

Not only did these shin guards give me protection, but also, according to me, they helped me play better too. Playing better contributed to the team, which helped us win many in-state and place superbly in out-of-state tournaments. That is why I like to call them my "lucky shin guards."

To this day, I continue to wear my shin guards, and they persistently bring me good fortune on the fields. Now they are starting to look like my first pair: beat up. However, during my soccer career, I hope to always have my good old shin guards -- the lucky ones.
