Emery Valentine as vice-consul for Japan


Later in his life, Emery Valentine served as vice-consul for Japan. He sat for this Winter & Pond Studio portrait on September 30, 1923, during a gathering of Japanese people in Juneau. Later, Valentine would receive the Order of the Rising Sun award for his work in foreign relations. Archives, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
