President Harding driving in Golden Spike that completed the Alaska Railroad; Nenana, July 15, 1923

President Warren G. Harding toured Alaska in 1923, and honored the builders of the government railroad by driving the "Golden Spike" in a ceremony marking the joining of the northern and southern portions of the construction project. Alaska State Library.
