There is an Animal Inside Me...
By Sarah Potter
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary 4-6
Year: 2000 Category: Bell Benton Memorial Poetry Award

There is an animal inside me
Its black hair and brown eyes mirror my own.
It runs fast as the wind and
hunts its prey in tall trees.
In this time
the two of us as one,
we are on the loose?
free,
fierce,
wolves.
