Ode to Snowboarding
By Blake Steenhoven
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary 4-6
Year: 2003 Category: Margaret Mielke Memorial Poetry Award

My mind
racing as I slip into my bindings,
riding the chairlift
high above the ground.
The wind
blowing my hair freely
as I cruise down the hill.
Nerves twitch
but I'm addicted to adrenaline.
Nearing the jump,
heart pounding,
feeling the ground angle up
under my board,
Sailing, rising higher then ever.
